The Tennessee Commission for the Semiquicentennial of the United States invites you to join a public information meeting held in Knoxville, Tennessee.

December 6, noon: Knoxville, East Tennessee History Center, 601 S. Gay Street

We want to discuss the ideas and plans that Tennesseans have to commemorate, educate, and celebrate the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution and the Declaration of Independence.

The mission of the Tennessee Commission for the Semiquicentennial of the United States is to promote an inclusive statewide celebration and educational commemoration of America’s 250th by interpreting and preserving Tennessee’s unique stories, objects, landmarks, and places across our diverse state that defined who we are as Tennesseans and Americans.

We want to hear from YOU about the unique stories, objects, landmarks, and places that you wish to highlight and learn more about during the state’s 250th celebration.

The Tennessee State Historian, Dr. Carroll Van West, and members of the Commission will attend the public information meetings to share their ideas and to hear your thoughts about how Tennessee can best celebrate our great nation’s 250 birthday and commemorate the many important events of our Revolutionary War heritage.
