The Newport Plain Talk

“Moonshine: Yes, they made it here!” is a two-part series on the history of moonshine in this county.  Realizing that the Hollywood image is vastly different from those who actually plied the trade, the newspaper set out to trace and present the true history of this part of their heritage.  The articles look at all facets of the subject through interviews, research and photos, economic impact, humor, and violence.  Duay O'Neil, Assistant Editor, was on hand to accept the award.
