Dr. Frank Tipton Rogers

Physician

Frank Tipton Rogers, M.D., was born in Knoxville in 1908. He attended the University of Tennessee and earned a medical degree at the University of Maryland. He was the first chief of radiology at Baptist Hospital.

In 1957 Rogers republished the long-out-of-print Knoxville Cookbook-1900, containing original recipes, maps, names of prominent residents, and a historical sketch of the city. An avid outdoorsman, Rogers hunted and fished from Canada to Cuba. Friends remember him for his congenial company and splendid hospitality.

Roger’s antebellum home, Speedwell, was open to the public as a historic site for 10 years following his death in 1977.

Dr. Frank Tipton Rogers was named a Pillar of Support by the Frank and Virginia Rogers Foundation.
